Bikesboro gladly and gratefully accepts donations for our tireless advocacy work, for our various programs including the bicycle cooperative and bike give-aways to needy folks, and our projects such as the West Gate City Conceptual Design and bike route mapping.
If you wish to make a financial donation for any of our programs and want a receipt for tax purposes, the Transit Alliance of the Piedmont, a 501c3, is willing to take such donations on our behalf and provide you with a receipt. You can either donate online through their Paypal portal or else send us a check made pay-to-the-order-of "Transit Alliance of the Piedmont", with "Bikesboro" on the for/notes line, and delivered to the Lotus Center address below.
Bikesboro aims to provide free used bicycles to community members who need bicycles to get to work and to school, especially those who cannot afford a bicycle, through our Bikesboro Bicycle Repair & Recycling Program. We also work with our partners to provide a community service of removing, repairing, or recycling unwanted used bicycles, rather than sending them to the landfill. Bikesboro does not directly give bicycles to individuals, but rather we work in partnership with other organizations to find, collect, repair, and distribute bicycles to qualified community members. We receive donated bicycles from institutions such as the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG), the Greensboro Police Department, area bicycle shops, and from individuals who do not need a tax-deductible receipt. After receiving, sorting, and fixing the bicycles, we then work with our community partners, including social service providers, to deliver used bicycles to various needy clients, including new Greensboro residents, immigrants, refugees, migrants, and poorer youth. During 2017, we collected over 500 used bicycles and have given away over 250 of them through our partners, with the rest being recycled as scrap or used as art by local artists.
Regular non-tax-deductible donations, including cash, checks and bicycles, can be dropped off at:
2412 Lawndale Drive
Greensboro, NC 27408
Please text Sheldon at (336) 459-7011 with any questions.
Currently we do take bicycles or parts from donors needing a receipt for tax purposes. For such donations, we suggest you contact BIG.
