Bikesboro Advocacy works in partnership with the Transit Alliance of the Piedmont on advocacy and focuses on first-mile/last-mile micro-mobility policy and infrastructure infrastructure improvements, primarily for bicycles-as-transportation users but also for walking, e-bikes, transit use, and scooters. Our past successes include getting the city of Greensboro to put in bike facilities, 4 design workshops with over 220 total participants, and convincing Greensboro voters to support spending $90,000 on a downtown trolley pilot project.
The Greensboro Community Bike Shop provides a community service of removing unwanted surplus bicycles in Greensboro. We work with public agencies, nonprofits, bike shops, and individuals to locate, move, and sort the bicycles. We then repair the fixable bikes for reuse and recycle the rest as either scrap or art. Bikesboro doesn't give bikes to individuals, but instead works with social service providers, schools, community centers, and other partners to collect, fix and give away donated bicycles to Greensboro homeless, Title 1 youth in Guilford County, immigrants, and refugees.
Bikesboro is an all-volunteer collective of individuals and organizations who work to make Greensboro NC a nicer place to bicycle, walk, and use transit for everyone 8 to 80. Our economic prosperity and security is dependent on creating a vibrant progressive community that is as easy to get around without a car as it is with one. We help build an active community by providing support for our partners and camaraderie for activities related to bicycling, walking, and transit as transportation. Bikesboro is a community group that succeeds on our projects by working in partnership with over 20 volunteers and 47 organizations.
If you have bikes to donate we will gladly accept them to be given to clients through our partners. Bikesboro also gladly accepts donations for all our endeavors. Tax-deductible cash donations are made through the Transit Alliance of the Piedmont.
